Necesidades de aprendizaje de residentes para búsqueda y referenciación bibliográfica del trabajo de terminación de la especialidad / Residents learning necessities for bibliographic searching and referencing on behalf of the specialty ending work

Introducción: gestionar información es organizar y poner en uso los recursos de información. Objetivo: la presente investigación se realizó con el objetivo de identificar las necesidades de aprendizaje de los residentes para la búsqueda y referenciación bibliográfica al gestionar la información en el contexto de la investigación científica vinculada al trabajo de terminación de la especialidad. Materiales y métodos: se desarrolló un estudio descriptivo transversal en octubre-noviembre de 2012, con 21 residentes que realizaron su examen de especialidad en cuatro hospitales provinciales de Matanzas. Se aplicó una encuesta de 10 preguntas para indagar sobre la realización de la búsqueda, conocimiento sobre normas y estilos bibliográficos, utilización y conocimientos de bases de datos, palabras clave y fuentes de información. Se aplicó revisión documental a los informes finales de los trabajos de terminación de especialidad, a partir una guía elaborada al efecto, para obtener información sobre la estructura y organización de las referencias bibliográficas y la bibliografía consultada. Resultados: las insuficiencias de conocimiento reveladas se relacionaron con: dependencia de otras personas para realizar la búsqueda de información, desconocimiento de las bases de datos disponibles y confiables en Ciencias Médicas, poco uso y falta de conocimiento del valor de las palabras clave en la búsqueda y recuperación de la información, dominio insuficiente de la estructura de las referencias bibliográficas según la normas Vancouver. Conclusiones: los hallazgos de la investigación denotan la necesidad de desarrollar procesos de formación de competencias informacionales esenciales en residentes y tutores del territorio(AU)

Background: Information managing is organizing and using the information resources. Aim: The current research was carried out with the aim of identifying the residents learning necessities for bibliographic searching and referencing when managing information in the context of the scientific research related with their specialty final work. Materials and Methods: We developed a cross-sectional descriptive study in October-November 2012, with 21 residents who presented their specialty examination in four of the provincial hospitals of Matanzas. They answered a ten-question inquiry aimed to know about their development of the bibliographic search, their knowledge on bibliographic standards and styles, data basis usage and knowledge, key words and information sources. A documental reviewing guide was applied to their specialty final work summaries, consisting in four items to obtain information on the bibliographic references structure and organization, and consulted bibliography. Outcomes: The knowledge insufficiencies were related with: dependence on other persons for information searching; lack of knowledge on the available and reliable data bases in Medical Sciences; little usage and lack of knowledge of the key words role in information searching and retrieval; insufficient knowledge of the bibliographic references structure according to Vancouver Standard.Conclusions: The research findings show the necessity of developing processes of essential informational competences in residents and tutors of the territory(AU)

El objetivo del trabajo fue describir la Revista Médica Electrónica, de Matanzas, realizando un estudio de los artículos publicados entre los años 2003 y 2009. Se analizaron 531 trabajos, obteniendo información sobre la cantidad de artículos publicados por años analizados, el promedio de artículos en cada número de la revista, la especialidad del primer autor, la cantidad de docentes de las especialidades médicas, el motivo de la publicación, los municipios e instituciones de salud donde se realizaron las investigaciones, y el por ciento de artículos publicados por municipios e instituciones de salud. Se registró un promedio de 75 artículos por año y 12,6 artículos por número de la revista. Las especialidades más representadas de los principales autores fueron: Cirugía General, Microbiología, Neurocirugía, Ortodoncia, Ortopedia y Traumatología, Cardiología, Gastroenterología, Embriología Médica, Inmunología, Medicina Natural Tradicional, Pediatría y Radiología. The aim of our study was describing Revista Médica Electrónica, of Matanzas, reviewing the articles published between 2003 and 2009. 531 articles were analyzed, obtaining information on the quantity of published articles per analyzed years, the average of articles published in each number of the journal, the specialty of the first author, the quantity of the docents of each medical specialty, the motivation of the publication, municipalities and health institutions where investigations were developed, and percent of published articles per municipalities and health institutions. We recorded an average of 75 articles per year and 12,6 articles per number. The most representative specialties of the main authors were: General Surgery, Microbiology, Neurosurgery, Orthodontics, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Medical Embryology, Immunology, Traditional Natural Medicine, Pediatrics and Radiology. We stated that a low percent of docents published their work. We also stated that there was a predominance of personal interests as motivation of the publication. La formación de usuarios en el uso de la información médica en el municipio de Matanzas / Educating users in using medical information at the municipality of Matanzas

Esta investigación está basada en la problemática de la formación de usuarios, la cual presenta poca asistencia a los cursos de formación que se imparten en el Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas, del área de Versalles, municipio de Matanzas. Se revisó la literatura nacional e internacional de la temática de formación de usuarios de la información para ver su comportamiento en el mundo y en Cuba, realizando la exposición de los antecedentes históricos de la formación de usuarios como tarea fundamental del servicio de referencia. Se explicó las ventajas del conocimiento en el manejo de la biblioteca tradicional para poder enfrentarse a las bibliotecas virtuales y digitales, como recurso de información, investigando el conocimiento que tienen nuestros usuarios de la red de Infomed y la Alfabetización Informacional y aplicando a los usuarios una encuesta de 6 preguntas para saber si éstos conocen de los cursos de formación. Estos resultados se muestrearon en tablas, a los cuales se les aplican el porcentaje. Se analizaron los resultados obtenidos y se emitieron como conclusiones que la formación de usuarios en los centros encuestados necesitan mejorar su actividad con nuevas ideas y retos, pero apoyándose en los conocimientos de la biblioteca tradicional(AU)

This investigation is based on the problem of educating users, who have poor assistance to the educating courses carried out at the Provincial Center of Medical Sciences Information, at the Versalles area, municipality of Matanzas. We reviewed the national and international literature on the theme of educating information users to find how it behaves in the world and in Cuba, exposing the historical antecedents of educating users as main task of the reference service. We explained the advantage of managing traditional libraries to be able of working with digital and virtual libraries as information source, investigating the knowledge our users have on Infomed and informational alphabetization, applying the users a six-question survey to find out if they know about these education courses. The results are showed up in tables, to which the percentage was applied. The obtained results were analyzed and the conclusions are that the centers where the surveys were applied have to improve their activity with new ideas and challenges, but based on the knowledge of the traditional library(AU)

CUMED: una alternativa para la actividad científica en el sector de la Salud. Matanzas / CUMED: an alternative for the scientific work at the Health Care Sector. Matanzas

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y métrico que permitiera conocer la distribución de la producción científica por línea de investigación, instituciones de salud, años y especialidad, nivel de atención, municipios y consistió en analizar todos los registros de la base de datos CUMED, para seleccionar los que pertenecían a investigadores de la provincia de Matanzas y para medir la utilización y el conocimiento que tienen de la misma. La investigación se realizó en el Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de Matanzas Laudelino González González. Nos motivó a su realización la necesidad de una acción efectiva ante el problema de contribuir a incrementar la publicación científica de los profesionales de la Salud y su incorporación en la base de datos CUMED(AU)

We developed a metric descriptive study to know the distribution of the scientific production divided in investigative line, health care institution, age and specialization, level of health care and municipality. The study consisted in the analysis of all the entries in the Database CUMED, to select those pertaining to investigators of the province of Matanzas to measure the usage of the database they do and the knowledge they have on it. The investigation was carried out at the Provincial Center of Medical Sciences Information of Matanzas Laudelino González González. The necessity of an effective action contributing to increase the scientific publication of our researchers and its entering to the Database CUMED motivated us. Our investigation has two stages; the first one is searching all the works of the province of Matanzas registered in CUMED; the second one, an inquiry filled by 100 professionals of the he alth Care System of the municipality of Matanzas(AU)

La utilización de los fondos bibliográficos posibilita conocer la frecuencia con que se usan y son visitados los centros preparados para estos fines y su aprovechamiento. El propósito de este trabajo fue identificar la utilización que ha tenido el fondo documental del Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de Matanzas (CPICM) a través de los servicios de Solicitud de Préstamo y Servicio Cooperativo de Acceso al Documento (SCAD), en el período comprendido del 2005-2007. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, revisándose el movimiento de las fuentes de información, de acuerdo al tipo de documento, clases, número de revistas según años de edición y para lo cual se utilizó todo el fondo documental existente (libros, revistas, tesis y obras de referencias). Sólo un 15.54 por ciento del fondo fue utilizado en el período estudiado, de ellos los libros representaron un 30.02 por ciento, las revistas un 10.45 por ciento y las tesis fueron los documentos menos usados (3.64 por ciento). La utilización del fondo documental comprobada en este estudio es considerada como pobre y con un aprovechamiento insuficiente. Una mejor labor de promoción en el centro, la incorporación de nuevos servicios y nuevas estrategias de trabajo podría mejorar sustancialmente la utilización del fondo documental(AU)

The usage of library collections allows knowing the frequency the centers prepared for this purpose are visited and used with this objective and the form the visitors take advantage of them. The aim of this work was identifying the usage that has being made of the documental fund of the Provincial Medical Sciences Information Center of Matanzas through the service of Loan Asking and the Cooperative Service of Access to Documents, in the period 2005-2007. We carried out a descriptive, transversal study, reviewing the movement of the information sources, according to the kind of document, classification, number of journal in relation with the edition year; for that we used the entire documental fund in existence (books, journals, papers, and reference works). Only 15.54 percent of the fund was used in the studied period; only 30.02 percent of the books and 10.45 percent of the journals were used, and papers were the less used documents: 3.64 percent. The usage of the documental funds verified in this work is considered poor and its exploitation insufficient. A better promotion work in the center, the incorporation of new services and new working strategies would substantially improve the usage of documental funds(AU)
